Electro Tile

The project proposes an innovative solution to energy shortages: generating electricity from human footsteps.

We explored piezoelectric and hydraulic systems for clean energy in busy cities, focusing on low cost, safety, eco-friendliness, and automation.

Prototype Development:
We designed and built the Electro Tile using:

  • Plastic pipes, a 12V hydro generator, water pump, wooden tile, and springs.

  • When stepped on, springs compress, pumping water through pipes to spin the generator and create electricity.

  • The total cost was 445 LE, making it affordable for wide use.

Testing & Results:

  • Footstep simulations showed the tile produces more power than expected.

  • One step can briefly power an LED light.

  • Scaling up could lower energy use in crowded places.

Challenges:

  • Fixed pipe leaks with glue.

  • Upgraded pump for steady water flow.
