Wet Plants

In certain areas, water shortages are worsened by pollution, poor irrigation, and population growth. Our team focused on cleaning drainage water and cutting farm water waste.

  • Research & Solution Design: We developed eco-friendly methods using recycled materials. Our 4-stage water filtration system includes:
    - Stages 1-2: Corn cobs to remove solids and heavy metals.
    - Stage 3: UV light for disinfection.
    - Stage 4: Banana peels to eliminate residual toxins.
For irrigation, we created a clay pot system with Arduino moisture sensors to automate water delivery and reduce evaporation.

  • Prototype Development: We assembled the filtration unit with simple materials like wood and plastic containers. The irrigation system combined a clay pot, pump, and Arduino sensor to control water based on soil moisture.

  • Prototype Testing & Results- Water Quality: reduction in TDS, heavy metals, and bacterial load.
    - Irrigation Efficiency: Used less water than traditional methods; sensors ensured precise watering.

  • Personal Reflection: Using banana peels to filter toxins was a great environmentally friendly idea.

  • Recommendations: Future steps include running more tests to understand the range of treatment that can be achieved.
